And the chocolate obsession continues. I know I know. I’d hoped I’d be over it by now too. However, the chocolate monster is growing daily. Between my obsession with Hu chocolate* and this recipe creation, I’m happily feeding my monster daily in small doses. Or at least I’m trying to keep it in small doses.

A few months ago, I discovered chocolate coconut butter on the shelves of Fresh Market. But I struggled to find it other places. Also I wasn’t a massive fan of the price tag. For such a small portion, it seemed quite pricey.

Being the savvy gal I am, I attempted to make this a few weeks ago using a double boiler. I was curious to know if melting the chocolate was key. It’s not in case you were wondering. This is a through and through food processor recipe. And it’s as easy as making almond butter. Throw it all in and let it go.

Now, if you don’t own a food processor or opt to make things in your blender, I can’t guarantee how this turns out. But if you’ve had success using other methods to make almond butter in the past, then I think you’ll be okay. The key to this recipe is for the heat of the processor to breakdown the oils so you get the smooth butter quality. If you aren’t getting it to break down, this is probably the issue.

I’ve been eating it straight from the jar or adding it to my morning muffins. You could also use it in a vegan bulletproof coffee and make it a mocha. It’s a great way to add a healthy fat into your day.

3 Ingredient Chocolate Coconut Butter

A super easy chocolate coconut butter recipe that anyone can make!

Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 12 minutes
Total Time 14 minutes
Servings 15


  • 2 cups coconut desiccated or chunks are fine
  • 1/4-1/2 cup coconut sugar*
  • 1/2 cacao nibs


  1. Add coconut, cacao and 1/4 of coconut sugar to the food processor.
  2. Process until smooth and liquid consistency. You'll have to stop and scrap the sides down a few times.
  3. Once it reaches your desired consistency, it's ready to be enjoyed!

Recipe Notes

*I used 1/4 cup of coconut sugar but if you want it sweeter feel free to add more.
