30 Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 30

Categories Life

I am officially 29. Or at least I will be when this blog post goes live. But let’s pretend I’m 29 for the sake of this post.Ā I don’t think I’ve ever really been one for birthdays. Being a summer baby was great but it also meant less kids at your birthday party and ending up on random road trips opening gifts in the car. Like socks. Yes, this happened one year.Ā

28 was a year I could have never planned for or anticipated. I’ve grown so much as a person in the best ways. I’ve been challenged, survived hurricanes, made new friends and let go of things that no longer served my life. I’m sure if I thought long and hard, I could list 28 things I’ve learned. But we did that last year and it was a stretch. So let’s do one for 30 instead. The 30 things I want to do before turning 30. Oh boy.

Get another tattoo

After I got my first tattoo, I wasn’t quite sure if I would ever get a second. So many people say it’s addicting and you just want more. I definitely wouldn’t consider myself one of those people. But after 7 years, I’ve finally landed on my next one. Hopefully I can add it into the mix soon!

Go to Europe (completed: Paris)

I’ve done like zero international travel unless we are counting cruises. So going to Europe is my goal before 30 or for my 30th birthday!

Visit NYC

Also a place I haven’t been but would like to go visit. I’m hoping to make it to NYC in December of this year.

Start Investing

Even if it’s the smallest amount, I want to start being more intentional about growing my money and investing it. There will be a learning curve but we all have to start somewhere, right?

Learn To Sew

I’m constantly reminded when I shop at the lack of clothing on racks that really fits me. Being a petite curvy gal is lovely. I’m quite fond of my body. But I’d love to easily be able to alter stuff to fit me like I want it to fit.

Pay Off My Credit Card Debt

I’ve been fairly honest about this financial goal over the last few months. Years of emotional spending or trying to keep up with everyone else has left me a serious credit card bill. And it’s time to get rid of it.

Get More Involved In A Cause

After my dad passed, I became a lot more vocal about Mental Health Awareness. Right now my brain and plate feel a bit full. But I do want to be intentional about getting more involved this year in whatever ways I can.

See A Show On Broadway

I’d love to see Wicked. But I’ll happily see any broadway show I can during my visit. It’s something to check off my 30 before 30 and my bucket list!

Do Yoga Once A Week

I love my workout routine. Most of the time, I go to the gym. But there are weeks where my yoga or at home sessions are more prevalent. Yoga is great at helping me slow down and stay connected with where my body is at. So whether it’s in a studio or at home, I’d love to add this into my routine as a regular before 30.

Host A Girls Weekend With All Of My Besties (COmpleted July in nashville)

By the time this post goes live, I’ll have essentially checked this off the list. A good chunk of my inner circle of girlfriends is joining me for my bday trip in Nashville. Over the last six months, I’ve realized how much more I’d rather spend time with friends than have things. And a birthday weekend with my friends is definitely something I can’t wait to do!

DO A PULL UP

I wasn’t athletic as a kid. To be honest, I’m still working on that skill set. But it’s definitely not great for your mental attitude towards fitness as a child when everyone else can run & do pull ups and you can’t. This one will take some time to build up to but I’ll be happy with just 1 before 30. We all have to start somewhere.

LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE BETTER

If I’d actually made an effort to focus on one language over the years, I’d probably be a lot better off. I’ve taken Latin, French, Spanish and Italian. And I know very little of any of them. So this year I’d love to spend more time with my duolingo app* and dive into just one. Who knows, maybe it will come in handy during my 30th birthday trip.Ā

VISIT LA (Completed: oct)

I’ve been dying to get back to LA for a while now. And I’ve never done a proper LA trip. Ideally, I can make this one happen in the spring. But I have an on going list of all the places I want to go and things I want to eat before 30. Standard.

GO TO A CONCERT

The last few concerts I’ve been to have been because of other friends. They just aren’t something I tend to actively seek out. However, there are a few artists I’d love to see live: Adele, Ed Sheeran, Beyonce and Taylor Swift are all on the list. So hopefully I can knock one off the list or even find someone new to see live before 30!

GO TO A DRIVE IN THEATER (Completed: sept)

An easy one to fix but also something I’ve never done. We don’t have one in PC. But this can be rectified the next time I’m in ATL.

WATCH A TV SHOW I’VE NEVER SEEN FROM START TO FINISH

I did this a few years ago with Game Of Thrones*. Did I become obsessed like everyone else? Not really. Nevertheless, there’s quite a few classics I haven’t seen from start to finish. And it makes it easier to find something to watch when I’m feeling incredibly indecisive.Ā

TAKE AN AERIAL YOGA CLASS

I signed up to try one a few years ago and didn’t do it. But I think this would be a lot of fun to do with friends. I’ll probably be terrible at it. However, I’m down to give it a try!

MAKE GF SOURDOUGH FROM SCATCH

My diet is very heavily paleo based these days. It’s what seems to work best for my body and hormones. But every now and again, I’d love to have some fresh, warm bread. Gluten free sourdough is tricky. So I might just cheat and order the starter online. Either way if I can actually make it happen, I’d be ecstatic!Ā

LEARN TO PLAY A NEW SONG ON PIANO

I’ve been a bit neglectful of my piano skills over the years. And while I don’t think I’ve ever find myself dying to create music all the time, I do want to make sure I’m still keeping up my ability. Learning one new song is a great way to do that. Plus, maybe it will inspire me to want to play more.

READ HARRY POTTER AGAIN

After unpacking my books recently, I realized just how long it’s been since I’ve read Harry Potter*. I think this time around I’d love to listen to them on audible*. A fun new perspective on something I’ve loved for years! It also means I can make time for it on the go which means I’m more likely to do it.

RUN A MILE

I’ve said it before but I’m a terrible runner. Eventually, I might grow to love running long distances. But now, I’d be happy with being able to run a mile without stopping before 30!

BECOME MORE FINANCIALLY EDUCATED

At least 3 of my 30 before 30 goals involve my finances because I still have so much to learn. I want to be smarter with my money than how I’ve previously been but I also don’t want to make the same mistakes as my parents. Learning when and were to invest, what credit cards are best for my lifestyle and so much more is on the list. Living in fear of my bank account hasn’t helped me so far. It’s time to become educated so I can use that knowledge to do better.

BECOME MORE POLITICALLY EDUCATED

If there’s one thing that can kill a dinner conversation, it’s politics. Like money, I’ve taken the ignorance is bliss approach for too long. And while I may not agree with my parents opinions, I’d like to be educated enough to understand what’s going on so I can use my voting power for good.

TAKE A COOKING CLASS

This is definitely something I’d want to do with a friend. As much as I love cooking, I’ve never taken a course. Most likely, I’d want to do this in Atlanta. But I think it would be fun to learn a new skill and expand my culinary palate before 30. My dietary requirements might make it a bit challenging. However, it’s still something I want to make happen!

RIDE IN A HOT AIR BALLOON

Let me start with I’m not a big fan of heights. Nevertheless, every time I see a photo or video of someone doing this is looks fun. So why not?

LEARN HOW TO PERFECTLY MAKE HASHBROWNS

This seems so simple. And yet I’m terrible at getting my hashbrowns that nice crispy brown. I’m sure it’s a lack of patience. Luckily, you can learn almost anything on the internet!Ā

DO ALL OF VLOGMAS

For the last two years, I’ve attempted vlogmas. There have been certain challenges that have made it more difficult. This year I want to be more intentional about creating amazing holiday content. It’s going to require a bit of prep work and longer hours. But I love watching other people’s videos. So I want to join in on the fun!

READ ALL THE BOOKS ON MY TO BE READ SHELF

After a recent clear out, reorganize and general wander around my house, I think I’ve finally gathered almost all of my books into one space. With the exception of the tiny stash in by bedroom but that’s okay. There’s quite a few books I’ve either bought with the best of intentions, started and didn’t finish or forgot I had. It’s enough for it’s own mini bookshelf so this year my goal is to read them all. Wish me luck!

TRY A TRAMPOLINE CLASS

We know I love Busy Philipps. She’s just fab. And she’s always posting about the trampoline class she takes. Of course, this means I need to try it too! I’m all for trying new workout classes to keep yourself inspired. Plus the kid in me who wanted to be a gymnast can’t wait to go!

LEARN HOW TO MAKE LATTE ART

And last but not least on my 30 before 30 list, I’m opting for something to keep my creative energy flowing. I find that one of the best ways I can stay creative and continue to create things as often as I do is to stay curious and try new things. Will I use latte art in my daily life? Eh maybe not but definitely for flat lays. The more I learn and grow, the more I have to offer as a creative entrepreneur. Every little bit counts!

Ā

So what about you? What’s on your 30 before 30 list? Or what’s something you’re hoping to accomplish by your next birthday? Leave me a comment below and let me know! Until next time. Xoxo, Savvy
