Guys, we have to talk about Bar Taco. Seriously, it’s the best. If you follow me on insta, you’ll know I’ve been hopping around quite a bit lately. Between travels in Kentucky and time in Florida with family, I find myself eating out and catching up with everyone when I’m back in ATL. Luckily for you, it means tons of new places and reviews coming at you. But first things first, the tacos.
I love tacos. Who doesn’t love tacos? And if you don’t love tacos, please tell me why? I’m not judging. I’m just a bit curious. But even if you don’t like tacos, bar taco has something for you. Their menu covered all the dietary needs which is always a winning category in my book. Plus, their drinks are good!
Here’s the run down on how things went:
We went on a Saturday night and were seated pretty quickly. FYI, they do free valet parking. Otherwise, I think it’s street parking or a parking lot near by if you can find parking. We decided to valet.
Their menu is a cute little card that folds out. At each table they have a set of pencils and menu cards. You place your order on a card that reminds me of a mix of a sushi order menu and the score card you use when you play putt-putt.
But here’s where things can get a bit trickier. I am not a dairy person and I know that if I order anything in the range of tacos means that there is a chance I’ll end up with cheese on it. I always try to remember just to put no cheese/dairy in my order on the off chance they don’t list it in the description but sometimes I forget. With this putt-putt card system, there isn’t really a place to put notes. So if you do have something special to include, be sure you actually tell the waiter when you hand over the order.
Also, chips and salsa are not free. We placed and order for chips, salsa and guacamole. If you are a red salsa fan, fair warning they serve a green salsa. It wasn’t really my preference but it was still good. And the chips are more like a corn tortilla turned into a chip so you have to break it to share. If you aren’t into sharing plates, I’d put in an order of your own or dish out the tortillas per person.
But really, we are here to talk about the tacos. They had quite a variety of tacos to choose from: falafel, fish, shrimp, cauliflower and more! We all tried something different. The tacos are kind of small so we each ordered 3. Another thing of note, they all came served on the same tray so we had to figure out which person got which tacos. It only took a minute and our server was great helping us but I understand that it can be a turn off for some people.
Overall, it was a great dinner. The atmosphere was chill. We were served promptly and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal.
Savee & Savory Grade: B+
As much as I wanted to score it higher, I had a hard time getting past all of the tacos served on the same plate and paying for chips and salsa. Small things, I know. But if you have a food allergy, you might not think to ask them to separate your plate.
If you’re in the Atlanta area, check them out! They have a few locations, but this is the one we went to:
