SOME OF MY FAVORITE GIFTS THAT GIVE BACK
From bags to jewelry, you can find several beautiful options at Noonday. This organization was created to help alleviate poverty and provide decent jobs in places that have struggled. Artisans are able to create and have a fair trade business that allows them to sustain their families in ways they couldn’t before. And these partnerships are happening all over. If you’re looking for something special to give you loved on this year, a beautiful piece of Noonday jewelry shows love and support in more than one way.
Over the last year, I’ve been heart broken to see how many friends have children with cancer. Love your melon is an company that aims to support non-profit organizations helping to fight pediatric cancer. They are also dedicated to giving a hat to every child in America battling cancer. This apparel company has a range of beanies, hats and knitwear available. You can find their range online. It’s the perfect gift for the person who has everything or even someone you know loves a good hat.
This is probably one you’ve heard of before but it’s a favorite of mine. The Giving Keys is a company that helps provide jobs to those who are homeless. According to their website, they have provided jobs to over 70 people who are transitioning out of homelessness. The idea behind the keys is that you wear a key with a word that fits where you’re at in life. Maybe you’re in need of courage or strength. The key is your reminder. Then when you feel it’s time and you’ve found the right person, you pass it along. It’s a bit of a pay it forward. There are tons of key options available as well as the option to customize. I’ve had a key for a few years and it’s one of my favorite gifts I’ve been given.
Another recommendation from a friend, Akola is a great jewelry option this holiday season. This nonprofit works to empower women in both Dallas, TX and Uganda. Akola aims to help women use their income to change their families and communities. These previously “unemployable” women are given the skills and tools to help them support themselves and their loved ones. Each piece of jewelry is crafted by 1 in 500 women working with Akola. You can find them online.
And if you aren’t a hat or a jewelry person, then maybe a candle is more your speed. Bridgewater Candles was recommended by a friend and I can easily see why. Through Bridgewater’s light a candle, feed a child campaign, they are helping to feed orphans in eight different countries. Every purchase that is made helps to feed one child for a day. The candles are made in South Carolina and the company proudly supports providing Americans jobs. If you’re looking for an adorable and thoughtful present, Bridgewater Candles is sure to have something for you.
I have tried so many different yoga mats over the years. And if you haven’t figured out by now, I’m a V picky gal. So when the team at Scoria reached out about sending me one of their sustainable mats, I was hesitant. But I quickly fell in love!
They have so many cute mat options. I opted for the Blossom Mat and it’s gorgeous. But I also don’t find myself slipping when using it. As well as, it has enough thickness to it to make me feel supported no matter what I’m using it for (yoga, bodyweight workouts, stretching, pilates, etc.)
Additionally, with every mat purchase Scoria is able to donate 10 meals. It’s definitely on the luxury list (which is a Savvy standard). But it’s well worth the cost!
Alrighty friends, I’ll continue to update this gift guide as I come across more brands that I think you’ll love. So be sure to bookmark this post for later. And if you want more regular updates, come join me on instagram! Until next time. Xoxo, Savvy
