How To Save Money On Hair Care Products

Categories Beauty

There’s that fine line us females walk. It’s the desire to have incredible hair but to not spend a small fortune on products. If you’re one of those lovely ladies or gents looking to stay on budget and rock your hair style, you’ve come to the right place. Today, I’m sharing some of my favorite tips for how to save money on hair care products.

I’ve been coloring my hair for years. Am I a natural blonde? Absolutely! Does it come back as glorious as kindergarten Savannah’s blonde? Heck no. I’ve tried all the colors. I’ve been brunette, blonde, and red headed all at some point. I don’t think I’ll ever go as dark as black unless I want to look like I’m dead. But I digress.

Whether you’re a color changing addict or someone who styles their hair with heat daily, you want your hair to look it’s best. And chances are you know that investing in the right hair care products between sessions can make a huge difference in the health of your hair. So, let’s talk about how to save you some money.

Shop around

I love google. It’s great for answering all my questions like where to find the best price on items. If you’re sold on a product but want to find the best deal, take the time to search around. One quick google search may point you in the direction of a sale you didn’t know about and then bam you’ve saved money! Now, you can treat yourself to a latte and show off your shiny and styled hair.

Shop in bulk

Unless I’m randomly trying something new, you’ll always fine giant bottles of shampoo and conditioner in my shower. Honest, you’ll probably find giant bottles and small ones all the time. And if you’re someone who likes higher end products, you’ll know that the bigger bottles are cheaper in the long run. Don’t be afraid to buy the giant container of shampoo.

If you’re someone who buys a new bottle every month of the small stuff, just think of how much you’ll save over 6 months with one giant container. You could even split the cost with a friend. Then you’ll save up front and you’ll both have epic hair.

Shop the sales

This tip is really all about the timing. Is it just me or does anyone else get mad if you buy something and a week later it’s on sale for $10 cheaper? Shampoo & conditioner always seem to fall into that category for me.

One of the best places for deals on hair products I’ve found is Ulta. And if you time it right, you can always find a sale. Right now, they have buy 2 get 1 free on some products. Plus, they have their big daily shopping event coming up this September. Even more ways to save on amazing hair stuff!

Be a loyal customer

When it comes to buying anything beauty related, one of the main things I consider when picking where to purchase an item is their rewards program. Sure, Sephora sells amazing things and I could spend all my money there, BUT Ulta and Birchbox have better loyalty programs. And while it might not pay in the instant you need something, over time it adds up.

Both Birchbox and Ulta turn points into money you can spend. If you’re looking to try something mega expensive or just wanting to save some cash on your regular stuff, find the shop that works best for you. And before you’ll know it, you’ll have money to throw at that product you’ve been wanting to try for forever.

Ask your hair stylist

If you’re really struggling to find the best prices and brands that work for your hair, I’d highly recommend asking your hair stylist. I’ll admit that I’m extremely lucky and mine happens to be a good friend. So when I hear her talking about a new product or she recommends one to me, she’ll get it for me at the price she pays. No salon up charge.

Depending on your stylist and where you get your hair cut, they might be able to get you a better deal or recommend a more affordable product for your hair. And if you consistently see they same person, they can help you find products that solve any issues you may be having (i.e. how to keep your blonde hair bright).

Whatever products you prefer to use on your hair, I hope this post will help you save some cash and find the best deals in the future. Leave me a comment below and let me know how you find ways to save on hair products!
