I love a good road trip snack. Even with all my recent diet changes and the goal of eating three well rounded meals today, my love of road trip snacks hasn’t faded. So whether you’re looking for healthy options to fuel your next adventure or just need new snacks ideas, today’s post is for you. I’m sharing my recent healthy snack haul along with all the reasons these snacks are good for you. Let’s get started!
Activated Almonds*
If you’re someone who loves nuts but has a harder time digesting them, I highly recommend activated almonds. Activated nuts are sprouted to decrease the anti-nutrients (i.e. phytic acid) but still maintain antioxidants such as vitamin E. You can find them flavored or plain. It’s a great way to get protein and fiber into your diet without the added sugar. Plus, they are super easy to take on the go.
Roasted Chickpeas
And if you’re someone who prefers savory and crunchy, roasted chickpeas are a great option. You can buy them from the store pre-flavored. Or you can make your own at home with whatever seasonings you prefer. I snagged the ones from Good Bean* for my recent trip and they are perfect for on the go. I love them because they are a good source of fiber and protein. They’re also perfect to throw into your salads on the go to add texture.
Kale Chips
Yes, I had to go there. And I know that kale feels like the most overdone veggie snack. However, it’s because it’s packed with so many nutrients. In my snack haul, I grabbed Brad’s Crunchy Kale*. It’s packed with loads of vitamin A and vitamin C. If you’re super busy and can’t make time, kale chips are easy to have for on the go. However, it’s definitely cheaper to make them at home.
Energy Bites
My favorite thing about energy bites is how easily you can customize them. If you’re looking to make them at home, I’d check out this recipe. But if you need to grab something quickly, I love the Navitas’ Power Snacks*. I got the blueberry hemp this time and they may be my favorite. These bites are packed with vitamin C, dietary fiber, omega fatty acids and antioxidants. But like most of these snacks, if you can make it at home you’ll save some money.
Coconut Chips
I am obsessed with Dang coconut chips*. I discovered these a few years ago and I’ve recently fallen back in love. For all my sweet tooth friends, these are going to be right up your alley. I prefer the caramel sea salt flavor. Partly because they are flavored with coconut sugar vs cane. And partly because they just taste the best. They are both crunchy and sweet. These are easily my go to for sweet cravings.
Raw Chocolate
Go raw chocolate* is my standard for chocolate. I keep it in my fridge at all times. I also buy it in bulk because it’s cheaper. No refined sugar. Limited ingredients. It’s my favorite. Today, I snagged a new brand of chocolate to test and try. Righteously Raw* is another raw chocolate available. I’m still trying all the bits I grabbed but I will say it’s definitely not as sweet as others I’ve tried. If you’re into dark chocolate, you’ll love it.
So there you have it. Loads of healthy snack ideas that will keep you on track. From sweet to savory, I hope whatever your cravings are you’ll find inspiration to keep making good choices. And remember, it’s a lifestyle were building. It takes time. Happy Sunday friends!
