Welcome, welcome, welcome. You should know in my mind that came out something like Effie Trinket in Hunger Games. But without her particular flair for fashion, of course. This has been a long time coming. And I’m so excited you’re here for the 2nd life of Savee & Savory, now known as What Savvy Said. I have so much to share and quite a few people to thank. Let’s chat!
Why the name change?
When I started blogging, I never thought it would be a lifestyle blog. If I’m honest, I was pretty adamant that I didn’t want to take this route. Everyone does lifestyle. Why would anyone want to read what I wrote? Surely, I don’t know enough about lifestyle to have a blog. My inner dialogue was strong on this one. But over time I realized, I was never going to be a food blogger. Sure, I love to share a good recipe. And I’m happy to help friends get healthier which was the original idea with S&S. Nevertheless, I wanted to talk about other stuff like life advice and beauty. Eventually, I out grew my first name and here we are.
I’ll admit, I’m pretty terrified. I love the new name but leaving S&S behind is like losing a friend. You grow to love and know a name for so long. And the transition has been in the works for a while now. I’m both excited about a new chapter and sad to leave the old behind.
WHERE DID THE NAME COME FROM?
I am incredibly blessed and encouraged by the women around me. Many have stepped in to help with the change over. But one friend in particular inspired the name and is also the vision behind the branding of What Savvy Said. It’s a running joke that I’m the friend people ask for health and life advice. WWSD (What Eould Savvy Do) has jokingly inspired food choices and random other decisions. It also inspired my new name.
If you ask any blogger or Youtuber, finding a name that’s available across the social media realm can be challenging. We tried and searched a few before we got here. But What Savvy Said isn’t meant to some power tripping, god-complex idea. Instead, it’s meant as a reminder that you always have a cheerleader in your corner. When you need encouraged or need to remember someone has your back, there is someone in a corner of the internet who wants you to succeed. And some times that may mean a bit of tough love.
WHAT’S COMING NOW?
Much of what you see content wise will still be the same. I’ve been gearing up for this change for a few months now and the foundation is pretty well laid down. I’m still going to talk about wellness, living a healthy lifestyle and my favorite recipes. But I’m also going to add in a few new things. There will probably be more beauty and travel. As well as, I’ll be keeping my random advice/life posts alive.
WHAT’S NEW WITH THE WEBSITE?
Before we designed the first site, I didn’t really know what I needed. And most bloggers will tell you that those things change over time. For me, I really wanted to make my Youtube channel more accessible. All my videos now feed directly into the home page so you can keep up with what’s new. Also, there’s a new search bit in the travel section. Right now, it’s only for the USA. But as I travel more to other countries, it will expand. If you’re looking for posts that are specific to a certain state, you can click on that state and it will filter them for you.
WHO HELPED ME?
There are quite a few people who regularly help me with the small behind the scenes things. But there are a few that I want to share with you guys & gals. Katelyn at Good Golden Creative Co. did all of the branding. If you see an icon, logo or color, she made it happen. Blair Winders is the genius behind my website design. Every little detail and pixel is her doing. Chloe Elizabeth Photography is responsible for today’s photos. She spent an afternoon of wandering and snapping to help make these pics come to life. And last but not least, I have to thank my girl boss in life Alaina. She is constantly encouraging me and helping me get everything I need to make my content work. Without all of these ladies, I wouldn’t be here today with this new chapter.
I’m super excited about this next chapter. So much so, I’m vlogging every day this month. I’ve got quite a bit of travel coming up and I can’t wait to take you guys along with me. But for now, thank you for being here and joining me with this new season. I’m thrilled to see what happens next!
