Creating An Easy No-Makeup Makeup Look

Categories Beauty

I love make up. There’s just something about it that has always been fun for me. But it’s taken me years to be decent at it. And I’ll happily admit there are plenty of make up looks that are out of my comfort zone. And for a time it would have included no-makeup makeup.

No-makeup makeup can look a bit different for everyone. Your no-makeup look might include eye liner and no mascara. Someone else may be good with eyebrows and a tinted lip balm. Whatever look works best for you, the idea is that you feel good and you look just a little bit more alive without heaps of make up. So today, I thought I’d share my go to make up look on my no-make up days. From product recommendations to I can’t leave the house without doing, here is everything I do on a no-makeup makeup day.

Concealer*

If I’m not putting on foundation, you can definitely bet I’m going to be using the concealer. For my minimal coverage days, I opt for the Nars Soft Matte Concealer* in two different shades. I use chantilly under my eyes and vanilla everywhere else on my face. The Nars concealer has been a favorite for a while but I find it’s my favorite for this look. It does a great job of giving coverage without being too much for this look. However, I do find I need a little powder under my eyes just to keep it from creasing.

Eyebrow Pencil/Gel*

I wonder how many eyebrow converts there are in the world. I definitely consider myself one of them. My face just seems so dull and uneven without having my brows shaped. Now if you tint your brows, you might be able to skip this step. I haven’t quite found the right place to try tinting so I still opt for my pencil & gimme brow. You’ll find that I bounce back & forth between the Benefit Precisely My Brow* and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz*. But I like the formula of brow wiz more. I just wish the brush didn’t break off every one of them. And if I’m in the mood or have time, I like to set them with my Benefit Gimme Brow.

Mascara*

I’ve jokingly told my friends this but if you ever see me without mascara, please make sure I find some quickly. At least if I’m in public. I rock a makeup free face most of the week unless I’m filming or running errands. And even then I’ll occasionally pop out with a hat on and a clean face. But if I’m attempting make up in anyway, there will always be mascara. Because otherwise I just look plain tired. My light lashes are almost non-existent without the help of mascara. I’m still obsessed with the YSL Baby Doll Mascara* but I’ve recently been trying the Lancome Monsieur Mascara*.

Cream Highlighter*

As far as my highlighter collection goes, I only own one cream highlighter. Because I tend to use a decent amount of powders, I’ve found that I don’t gravitate towards cream as much. But for this look I like the wet look of a cream highlighter. My no-makeup makeup tends to lack foundation but a light bit of RMS Living Luminizer* does the trick at highlighting the cheek and giving a natural glow. It’s one of my favorites and a green beauty staple.

Cream Blush*

Again I don’t tend to own many cream blushes. And the one I’m currently using was actually a Birchbox sample from forever ago. But it’s one of my faves for this look because it’s also got a bit of highlight in it. Perfect for skipping a step and running out the door. I dab a little on the apples of my cheeks and up towards my hair line. My skin can go red pretty easily so I don’t like to add too much but enough to give me a natural flush. My current cream blush of choice is from LAQA & Co*.

Tinted Lip Balm*

I’ve been raving about this one for years but it’s a forever staple in my life. Dior’s Lip Glow Color Reviving Lip Balm* is one of my favorite but especially for this look. It brings out the natural pH of your lips so the color isn’t too much. But it gives a nice glow that works well for a subtle look. I find a lot of tinted lip balms can look like leftover color rather than being fresh & pulling your look together. And the Dior lip balm is a staple in my handbag and for my no-makeup makeup look.

I hope this inspires you or helps save you time next time you’re running out the door. Personally, I apply most of this with my real techniques sponge or my fingers. I’d love to know what you’re loving or using in your make up looks currently. Be sure to leave me a comment below and let me know!
