Abercrombie Curve Love Tailored Short Review

Categories Style

We’ve reached the time of the year when I start thinking about shorts shopping. And as pear-shaped girlies know, it’s no easy task to find shorts that flatter without massive gapping waists. So today we’re taking a closer look at one of my favorite elevated staples: Abercrombie Curve Love Tailored Short.

Sizing & Color Options

Previously, the tailored shorts have come in only a few sizes: the standard small, medium, large, xl, etc. However, they now come in sizes 23-37 and in 5 different colors including black, cream, beige, blue and pink.

There is a button and metal clasp system for this with a stretch back making it more curve-friendly than most shorts. Compared to the mom shorts (more on those soon), these fit very similar to the Curve Love skinny jeans in stretch & waist fit. So if you want something that will snatch your waist and is less like to require tailoring, these are perfect for that.

With my current measurements, I float between a 14/16. The pink shorts were ordered in a 14 and the blue in a 16. I personally prefer to have things look a bit more snatched but if you like a more modest fit the larger size would suit.

I do find that with the larger size (as can be seen in the photos below), the extra room in the front puts less of an emphasis on the lower belly. But it also puts my small chest in align with the pants making my chest look smaller from the side. So it’s going to be personal preference on this one.

These are 4.5″ shorts and that measurement is taken from the inner leg seam. But as a 5″4 girlie, they are just right for a more elevated casual look that also won’t ride up in the center when walking. There’s plenty of butt coverage. And the curve love tailored shorts aren’t so long that they really drag your curves down.

These are made with the everyday menswear fabric so you’re getting that casual pant vibe. They aren’t double-lined so but they also aren’t see-through. I’d note that with the more fitted size, you’re going to see cellulite on the butt depending on the thickness of your underwear. If this is something that makes you feel self-conscious, I’d size up.

The tailored short has become one of my everyday essentials over the last few years because stylistically, they really work with my vibe. But also they hold up well. No piling or major snagged issues. I will say that it’s quite common for the seam to fall out with these with consistent wear. However, it’s nothing that can’t be easily fixed.

You find a lot of my previously styled outfits all in one place on Pinterest. Or you can see them as they go live via Tiktok or Instagram. But these shorts don’t require a lot to look great.

They do have belt loops which is perfect the thin, elegant Hermes dupe belt I’m currently obsessed with.  I tend to go for heels, almost always, as they make the legs look more toned and fit my aesthetic but these are great length for flats. With or without a jacket or blazer, I would suggest tucking in your top to keep the more tailored look. But I’ll be sharing more styling moments with these over the next few months, so be sure you’re subscribed to the newsletter so you don’t miss a thing. Until next time. Xoxo, Savvy
