Despite everything happening in the world right now, my love of clean make-up is still strong. And my obsession with the Kosas 10 second eyeshadow is very real but we will get to that in a minute. Truthfully, I’m a half and half make-up girl. There are days where I rock my 10 minute makeup look and days where I go full glam. It really all depends on my to do list for the day. But today, I thought I’d share my favorites that are currently in rotation in my spring clean make-up bag. Some old, some new, nothing borrowed, and occasionally something blue. Just not in these photos because we’re rocking a theme today kids.
Base
When it comes to the base of my makeup, there’s always two products I use: Farmacy SPF & Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi drops. They are standards for giving me a bit of sun protection and warmth. But lately, I’ve found that I’ve needed my bronzi drops for a new task. With my recent hobby of outdoor running, a majority of my makeup isn’t the right shade. Thankfully, these drops help me use whatever I’ve got without having to buy all new products.
Nevertheless, I do reach for a primer or two depending on the look I’m going for that day. Since there are no events on the horizon, I haven’t needed to reach for my trusty Coola Dawn Patrol primer. Instead, I’ve been using the Honest Everything primer for the outer portions of my face. And for t-zone, I’ve been opting for a bit of their matte primer that I snagged as a potential replacement for my Tatcha Silk canvas. It’s not the same by any means but it’s helping with me combat the humidity!
Foundation
As per usual, I don’t have just one. I’m a girl who loves her options. My 10 minute makeup typically features mainly concealer. The recent ones in my rotation: clove & hallow’s concealer for under the eyes + w3ll people’s concealer everywhere else. I’ve found myself playing a lot more with the Kosas 10 second eyeshadows and opting for a fun liner color and both of these concealers have been fab at helping me smooth out the lines to get the wing just right!
But there are some days where you just want a bit of medium coverage or even full on glam. For my medium days, I’m still obsessed with Ilia’s True Skin Serum. It’s beautiful, sheer and gives you a gorgeous glow. And for my full glam moments, I’ve been embracing the glow of the RMS Uncover Up Foundation. It’s buildable, glowy and super travel friendly (when that’s a thing again).
Contour
While I haven’t necessarily swapped my contour around too much, I’ve been playing with my technique a bit. Lots of @katiejanehughes insta stories have me tweaking my application process. One of her tricks is to do a more creamy contour underneath to add warmth. If I’m going minimal/super glowy, I’ll use my Vita Liberta Beauty Blur to give that natural contour. But for my full glam days, I’ll opt for my tried & true Westman Atelier contour stick in biscuit. It’s such a beautiful color that isn’t too much. And for powder bronzer, I’m still loving and using my Vapour Beauty bronzer & my Lilah B bronzer.
HIGHLIGHT & BLUSH
EYESHADOW + LINER
But for the days when I have a bit more time, I love to dabble in my palettes. As we know, I’m obsessed with the Aether Beauty palettes. They are some of my favorites in clean beauty. I managed to snag my spring favorite towards the end of last summer. But with the craziness of the end of the year, I never talked about it much and traveled a lot more with Aemthyst Crystal Gemstone Palette. Another gorgeous palette but not the current obsession. The honor of spring eye shadow palette goes to the Solstice Eyeshadow Palette (currently on sale) with an honorable mention to W3ll People’s Nudist Palette 1 (my new fave basics).
It’s got a nice mixture of both matte and shimmer shadows. Plus, the shade range makes it’s perfect for both day & night. It’s hard to find a good palette where you want to use all the colors. But I tend to play around and find it’s very easy to create a simple day time look or a full glam night option. And on the occasion I feel like popping on a bit of liner, I’ve been loving the W3ll People Hypnotist Liner in brown. Mixed with the golden orange tones from the Solstice Palette, it makes my blue eyes pop!
MASCARA + BROWS
It’s hard to remember a time before I was obsessed with mascara & brow products. They are a staple in my spring makeup bag along with my kosas 10 second eyeshadow. I’m still loving and using 3 products for my lashes: lashfoods conditioning primer, ilia mascara (for lengthening) and a new thickening option from W3ll People. TBD on the love for the recent W3ll People addition. But thus far, I’m loving my full lash look with this trio.
And in a surprise to myself, I’ve also switched up my brow product. My trusty PYT brow pencil has recently run it’s course and will be repurchased soon enough. However, I’ve been testing out the Honest Beauty Brow Pencil in taupe. So far, I’m enjoying it. The only down side is that you have to sharpen the pencil if you want very precise application. But I do love that’s more affordable and easy to get ahold of when you need it.
LIP
One of the things I’ve noticed most recently is that I’m a lip liner slacker. So hopefully by my summer makeup bag post, we can share some good news! Nevertheless, I’ve been rotating between two products for lips this spring: Kopari’s Lip Balm & Bite Beauty’s Outburst Lip Stain in Orange Fizz. I’ve never been much of a lip balm girl. But for my simple, glowy days, I’m living for this one. It feels lovely and adds to that natural makeup vibe. However, I like my options and a lasting lip color which means I’m still reaching for my Bite Beauty faves. Gorgeous color, clean ingredients and they last for the full day!
Whew! TBH I think I already have a sneaky idea of what will land in my summer makeup bag. I’m currently testing products for our giant round up post and one palette has won my heart! I can’t wait to share it with you soon. But for now, be sure to come hang out with me on instagram too if you want the latest details on clean beauty. Plus, I’m doing more tutorials on IGTV to get you an idea of how I’m applying this gorgeous products.
